We are happy to announce that 7th edition of Belgrade Model European Union (BEUM) was successfully held between 19th and 22nd of October in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The atmosphere was amazing, the participants were enthusiastic and well prepared, while the organizing team worked very hard to make BEUM 2017 the best BEUM ever.

The opening ceremony was held in the Municipality Stari Grad where Đorđe Đorđević, project manager of BEUM 2017, welcomed the participants.

After the opening ceremony participants attended the panel “Regulating the Future: Artificial Intelligence”. Panelists who made this topic even more interesting were:

  • Lior Romanowsky – Founder & CEO at Spartans AI (Israel)
  • Slobodan Marković – ICT Policy and Internet Community Relations @ Serbian National Internet Domain Registry (Serbia)
  • Andrea Zorzetto – Hertie School of Governance, Berlin; Digital, New Technology and Public Policy at Science Po (Italy)
  • Mladen Trišić – Co-founder at Garage Lab Belgrade (Serbia)

Formal sessions began on the second day, where all the participants were active and full of new ideas which resulted in numerous interesting and dynamic debates about Artificial Intelligence. The team of journalists worked hard on daily reporting of events to make this year’s BEUM newspaper – “The Daily BEUM Herald” the best ever.

After two days of intense debates, hard work and very active nightlife, it was time to close the BEUM 2017. The best delegates were announced:

  • European Court of Justice – Teodor Toshev
  • European Parliament – Johannes Laute
  • Council of the European Union – Jaric Wiegman
